Come and experience the enchanting melodies of Hawaiian music at one of Maui's most cherished and free events, open to all ages and visitors. Past festivals showcased some of the finest slack key guitar players in Hawaii, such as Kevin Brown, Nāmaka Cosma, John Cruz, Makana, Anthony Pfluke, and more.
Slack key guitar, also known as Kī hō`alu in Hawaiian, is a musical style that utilizes a unique tuning technique. This beautiful tradition can be traced back to Hawaiian cowboys in the 19th century, who would play these soulful melodies around the campfire after a hard day's work. Today, slack key has earned worldwide recognition as an extraordinary acoustic guitar technique, even earning its own category in the Grammy Awards.
Refreshments will be on hand for purchase at the event, including an array of food and beverages from various vendors. Please be aware that bringing outside food and beverages is not allowed.
